There’s little known about Mary-Kate Olsen’s wedding to 48-year-old French banker Olivier Sarkozy. The two married in a secret ceremony in Manhattan in November 2015. So one savvy viewer called into Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to try to squeeze out more details from Mary-Kate’s sister in law Carla Bruni, who was guesting on the show. But the French singer-songwriter had a good reason why she couldn’t share any.
"I didn’t go to the wedding,” lamented Carla, who is married to Olivier’s brother Nicolas Sarkozy, the former president of France. “They invited us, and we couldn’t go because of a stupid reason, a geographical reason, because we had to come over here, and we couldn’t.”
Carla was a bit more forthright on what it’s like to have Mary-Kate as part of the family.
"They seem so happy," Carla shared and explained she had met the Olsen twin at a cousin’s wedding. “She looked adorable and very kind.” Carla also added that Mary-Kate’s husband Olivier seems so happy with his new wife, especially after a less than pleasant divorce from his first spouse, Charlotte Bernard.
As for the original call-in question over whether a bowl of cigarettes was available during the ceremony, Carla shrugged her shoulders and commented, “why not, it’s allowed.”
Mary-Kate gave a rare interview to Net-A-Porter’s The Edit where she talked about married life. While she works hard for her success, she does have to have balance. "I have a husband, two step-kids and a life; I have to go home and cook dinner.”
Domestic life probably never looked so fashionable.
