As I’ve told y’all in the past, I’m not really a lipstick girl. I love me a tinted lip balm, and I upgrade to glosses for a BNO. (Big. Night. Out.) So, when a new spring shade of lipstick landed in my sample bin a few weeks ago, I ignored it. Because, you know, my grandma wears lipstick. And my fifth-grade teacher wore lipstick. But not me.
And then in between making dinner and preparing my kids’ bath the other night, on a whim I unwrapped the box, twisted the tube open and applied. And then I bathed those darn kids and cleaned up the kitchen and was about to crash on the couch when I caught my reflection in the mirror—and I was the picture of spring, with the most perfect lip shade I’ve ever seen on myself. As someone who’s too fair for nudes and dark hues, I typically stick with a cherry-hued tints and far, far away from pinks. So this lipstick was literally blowing my mind.
The next day I made my neighbor try it on. And then a mom friend I bumped into at the gym. And then another friend I saw at the grocery store. And guess what? This is the freaking Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants of lipsticks! It looks good on everyone. Younger, older, darker skin, lighter skin. Literally everybody.
And I’m sharing this because spring is around the corner and the amount of new balms, glosses and lipsticks hitting the market right now is totally overwhelming. So skip the chaos and stress of trying to choose which one is best for you and trust me when I say it’s MAC’s Luster Lipstick in Lustering. Bonus: It’s lightweight and miraculously moisturizing, as well. Oh, and you can wear it to work, to drinks or just to get a blowout on a Saturday afternoon.
You won’t look back on this purchase, you’ll only be looking forward…to the warmer temps and flower explosion that is just a few weeks away.
